BOOK REVIEW

The Cause

by Jane Mann

The Cause is a novel which the publishers say breaks new ground in exploring the issue of vivisection through fiction rather than documentary. Action, suspense and conflict combine with the exploration of attitudes towards vivisection.

It tells the story of Kate who meets animal rights activist Mark whose aim is to end all animal experimentation and suffering at the notorious Draco Life Science. Yes it's girl meets boy, and yes it's a love story but there's a lot more to this book than that. Reading this book could help swell the ranks of animal rights campaigners; it should certainly help promote understanding of what animal experimentation really means in terms of animal suffering as there are extremely graphic descriptions of the inside of an animal laboratory and what goes on there.

Although at OOZE ONLINE we don't usually do book reviews we felt this book is more than worthy of inclusion. This is an immensely readable book, a book that here at OOZE ONLINE we couldn't put down and one that animals rights campaigners should want to see on the bestseller lists.

The Cause is published by Vinca Press ISBN 0-9549093-0-5. Price £8.99
